A Turkish citizen named Hatem Ozdemir was sentenced to death by the First Branch of the Khoy Revolutionary Court after 33 months in prison on charges of “fornication” through membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network, the last court hearing of Hatem Ozdemir was held in the First Branch of the Khoy Revolutionary Court later this summer, and he was officially sentenced to death last week in Urmia Central Prison.
According to this human rights network, in July 2018, during the clash between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the PKK in Chaldoran, Hatem Ozdemir was anesthetized and arrested for being hit by a mortar shell.
