The death sentence of Firuz Musalou, a Kurdish political prisoner and a 31 years old resident of Qotur (Kutul) district of Khoy city, was carried out secretly on Monday, June 20, 2022 in Urmia Central Prison without the knowledge of his family and lawyer. Security forces buried the body secretly.
Firooz Musalou was released from political custody and transferred to solitary confinement on Saturday, June 18, on the pretext of meeting with a delegation from the judiciary to investigate his case. He was transferred from solitary confinement to an unknown location last night with his hands and feet tied.
The Public Relations Department of the Judiciary of West Azerbaijan Province has confirmed the execution of this political prisoner without mentioning the identity of Firuz Musalou.
Firuz Musalou, a former member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), surrendered to security forces at the Sardasht border in 2020 after receiving a warrant from the Revolutionary Guards, but was arrested and transferred to Urmia Prison.
Firooz Musalou was sentenced to death in March of last year by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia on charges of moharebeh through “membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).”
The body of Firuz Musalou, who was secretly executed without the knowledge of his family and lawyer, was also buried secretly and without the knowledge of his family.
“A number of family members gathered in front of the Revolutionary Court in Urmia today, Tuesday, and demanded that Firooz’s body be handed over, but security officials told us that there was no body and that we had it ourselves,” a close relative of Musilu’s family told Hengao. “We are buried.”
The source added that Musalou ‘s family did not know about their son’s execution last night until the news of Firooz’s execution broke in the media.
