
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for rocket attacks on the city of Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish region.
The IRGC’s public relations department said in a statement that the attacks were in retaliation for Israel’s “recent crimes” and claimed to have targeted the “strategic center of Zionist conspiracy and evil” in Erbil.
Last week, two members of the Revolutionary Guards were killed in Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, and the IRGC promised to retaliate.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials have denied the existence of any Israeli intelligence centers in the area.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States have said they used “point missiles” in the attacks.
On Sunday morning, Iraqi security officials announced that 12 ballistic missiles had been fired at targets in Erbil, northern Iraqi Kurdistan.
