A member of Zeinab Jalalian’s family confirmed the news to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network: “Yesterday, a video of Guzel Hajizadeh, Zeinab Jalalian’s mother, was posted on social media, calling on human rights organizations to work for her son’s release. She has not seen her daughter for 15 years. Following the widespread release of the video this morning, security forces raided the political prisoner’s family home and arrested her mother, Guzel Hajizadeh, who is over 70 years old. “She was released.”

According to this source, Zeinab’s mother was interrogated for several hours by security interrogators regarding this video and the people who recorded it. Security interrogators have threatened her that she has no right to interview the media or publish news about Zeinab’s condition.

The family member of Zeinab Jalalian further stated that despite the fact that she was released after several hours of detention, the house of Zeinab’s family is still under the control of the security forces.

Security forces had previously detained, interrogated and threatened Ali Jalalian, Zeinab Jalalian’s father, for 24 hours for providing information about his daughter, and her personal phone had been blocked for several months.

Zeinab Jalalian has been deported to various prisons in Iran four times during the past year. . she only had the right to contact her parents by phone from time to time, even in Persian, and very briefly, and she is also denied access.

However, she has been suffering from various diseases during the 14 years of imprisonment in the harsh conditions of different prisons in the country, and she is in an unsuitable physical condition due to the deprivation of medical services.

Zeinab Jalalian was born in 1982 in the village of “Dim Gheshlagh” in Mako city in West Azerbaijan province. she was arrested in Kermanshah in March 2007, and after months of being held in solitary confinement in the city’s intelligence office and subjected to severe physical and psychological torture by the Islamic Revolutionary Tribunal on charges of “acting against national security” and “moharebeh” through membership in the Hayat Party. Azad Kurdistan (PJAK) was sentenced to death. The sentence was commuted to life imprisonment with a reduced sentence after it was upheld by an appeals court in 2010, after which Zeinab was transferred to Khoy Prison in West Azerbaijan Province. During her years in prison, she contracted a number of diseases, including blurred vision, pterygium, thrush and asthma.

In 2016, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention requested the Islamic Republic of Iran to release Zeinab Jalalian immediately and to take all necessary measures to compensate the damages imposed on her without delay and in accordance with international standards. According to the international working group, Zeinab Jalalian’s deprivation of liberty was arbitrary and in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. .
