An Iraqi Kurdish citizen has been acquitted of killing an Iranian Kurdish citizen after spending nearly 22 years in prison.
Jalal Ahmad Saleh, born in 1955 in the city of Seyed Sadegh in Iraqi Kurdistan, was sentenced in 2001 to life in prison for the murder of a Kurdish citizen from the city of Qorwa in Iran’s Kurdistan Province.
After more than 21 years, his innocence was finally proven and he was acquitted of murder.

The Kurdish citizen, who spent a third of his life innocently in prison, said after his release that the worst news during this period was the death of his family members, especially the news of the death of his wife and mother.
