During 2020, nearly 50 people were killed and wounded during the war and clashes between the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kurdish parties.
According to human rights activists, there have been at least 23 armed conflicts in Kurdistan in 2020, down 10 from last year.
During the clashes, 17 members of the Revolutionary Guards, police and Basij were killed and 19 others were injured.
The most clashes were recorded in Kurdistan province (Sanandaj), of which 13 out of 23 clashes took place in this province. There have been 10 clashes in West Azerbaijan Province (Urmia).
Of the total clashes that took place, 10 were carried out by PJAK and PKK guerrillas, 6 by Peshmerga of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) and its affiliated groups (Zagros Eagles). No party or faction has so far claimed responsibility for the other seven clashes.

During these clashes, 11 PKK and PJAK guerrillas and a secret member of PJAK were killed and one guerrilla was taken prisoner.

Also during 2020, at least 10 PJAK guerrillas were killed in the mountainous heights of Sulaimaniyah province in the Kurdistan region due to the bombardment of Turkish army fighters.

During 2020, Revolutionary Guards forces shelled the heights of Kurdistan 16 times and twice targeted the positions of the Kurdish opposition parties on the borders of the Kurdistan Region with UAVs.
At least one civilian was injured in the attacks in Diwandara.
